The City of Dunkirk hosts numerous events throughout the year. A number of these events are hosted on the Dunkirk City Pier, located just feet away from the Boardwalk Marketplace.

A summer-long concert series titled Music on the Pier takes place for three months over the summer on the Dunkirk City Pier. Twelve local and national musicians perform from 6:30-8:30pm on Thursday nights free of charge. Grab a lawn chair, a cooler, and some close friends and come on down to enjoy  great music overlooking Lake Erie right on the City Pier.

The City of Dunkirk also holds several festivals during the summer months as well. These festivals, titled the Wreck and Roll Festival Series, consist of a cook off, which in the past have included chicken wings, BBQ, and chili, and many musical performances. In past years Big Eyed Phish, Fully Clothed Gents, Killer, Coldplayers, and Zootopia have all played sets at these festivals. Fun activities such as a regatta race and tug-of-war competition take place as well as part of each festival.
